Dripline
Dripline is by far the most efficient and longest-lasting way to water garden beds. It is also exempt from hose pipe bans.
The majority of our stock of brown coloured dripline is manufactured by Toro, a renowned international company specialising in watering products. It comes in 25 meter, 50 meter and 100 meter lengths. It drips at the rate of 2 litres per hour from each dripper. A 100 meter length has 300 drippers, so in one hour it will emit about 600 litres of water, which is within the capacity of most garden taps.
Our black coloured dripline is manufactured by Rivulis, another renowned international company specialising in watering products. It only comes in 400 meter lengths. It drips at the rate of 1.6 or 2.2 litres per hour from each dripper.
Almost all types of dripline have a 14mm ID (Internal Diameter), so 14mm fittings are the ones to use. If you also need to use irrigation supply pipe, then 14mm LDPE is the optimum pipe to go for as it uses the same 14mm fittings.
Almost all dripline has drippers every 30cm or 33cm. But a few have drippers every 50cm. The popular choice is 30cm or 33cm.
To hold dripline in position – whether in lines, parallel lines, in curves or zig zags or coiled round trees – use our Antelco hold down stakes. Please note that dripline should not be buried. Instead it can be either left exposed, or covered in mulch or bark.
The longest combined length of dripline you can safely run off a tap – or off a tap powered irrigation zone – is about 100 meters, in any combination of lengths.
